After reboot are you atleast seeing the GRUB menu? If you are seeing the GRUB menu, it could be the display driver. If you are not seeing the GRUB boot menu, then it could be the boot loader. When you burn the image to the CD, please use the CD to boot and use try without installing ubuntu (live cd) and see if it working.
