I am learning ubuntu linux as a newbie and my background is windows. Please point me in the right direction with a good book resource with Title and Author, thanks.

I think you could begin with Ubuntu documentation , or you may want to check The Linux Documentation Project . I don't know if there is a "good book", I'm sure there are, but you can appreciate a book as good or bad depending on your level compared to that book. I think you should try google for linux documentation and chose what's good for you.
