How to configure default applications browser mail players in ubuntu?

Is there are way to configure default applications to launch in Ubunt?
for example the default mail client, default browser, default video players, etc..

I think you are looking for Preferred Applications

System->Preferences->Preferred Applications

You can configure Default Browser, Default Email Client, Multimedia Player, Terminal, Accessibility, etc

One other way of configuring default browsers is open the browser you prefer and set as default browser in the settings.
