I am aware of the ubuntu .iso image and burning it into cd / dvd drive.
But I am looking to have like a live CD on a USB. Is there a USB ubuntu image that i can get and burn into a USB?
Also How to burn into a usb flash drive? Is there a special software to burn the image?

This is really easy with ubuntu 9.04 jaunty version, please follow these steps
 
System->Administration->USB Startup Disk Creator
 
A Make USB Startup Disk dialog appears. Select the .iso image and click on the Make Startup Disk
