I was havin issues with my 9.04 installation ....the disc check at boot
up was freezing at 40% so i ran a manual fsck as root and answered yes
to all prompts.
thereafter i had to hard-reboot as the update manager froze.
after reboot it passed the first partition disc check but stuck at 40%
while checking the second partition.so i rebooted and skipped check to
login
But to my horror some icon on the desktop are missing or the graphics have changed(colour)
that goes for the networks icon ,thrash and "show desktop" icon also
the apps tool bar colour has changed and the apps drop down does not
open.
now i have booted in to my 8.10 install and i ran a check on the other partition from partition editor

what needs be done to get things back to normal??
