  • Yahoo messenger client exists only for windows and mac. There isn't one for linux afaik. Not sure why they don't have one for linux with yahoo being a open source friendly company. However you can use their webmessenger which is a webbased flash application. - Geeky 45 weeks 19 hours ago

Pidgin a.k.a Gaim from http://pidgin.im/ is a great instant messaging client and is available for all platforms including ubuntu linux and supports Yahoo, MSN, Google Talk, ICQ, any jabber based instant messaging service and more instant messaging services

Open a terminal and issue the following command

    sudo apt-get install pidgin

Add your yahoo messenger account to pidgin and enjoy chatting

Try GYachE improved.  It is ugly but it handles most everything YM does including audibles.. :)
