I use dual monitors for my ubuntu 9.04 jaunty machine. But everytime i restart i lose the dual monitor configuration changes. When i try to click on "Save to X Configuration File" button, i get the following error

Unable to remove old X config backup file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup'

How to fix this problem? Ubuntu prompted to install NVidia proprietory driver for my hardware. TwinView configuration occurs using NVidia X Server Settings dialog. This is annoying, please help...

Here is what i did
Opened a terminal and went to the /etc/X11 directory and removed the backup file. Still again clicking on "Save to X Configuration File" button was erroring out that couldn't save the new configuration file.
So i hit the "Show Preview" button and selected all the configuration content in there using Ctrl+A, now went to the /etc/X11 directory and opened the xorg.conf using sudo gedit xorg.conf, deleted all the contents in there and pasted the configuration information from the preview window and saved the file. Now the configuration stays even after the reboot.
I am sure there might be a better way to do this, but solved my problem :)
