Recently upgraded my desktop machine from ubuntu 9.04 jaunty to ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala. Everything went great and upgrade went smooth. But one interesting thing i noted is i can't play any flash videos anymore. When i visit any sites that has flash videos, i am able to see the player loaded. But unfortunately when i click on play, pause or any buttons on the flash players does nothing. Totally frustrated since most of the sites use flash plugin to play videos. Anybody came across this problem? Please help how to fix this?

  • If the flash player loads and plays then flash should be fine. What you describe sounds like a known bug with compiz-fusion. The easiest way to figure this out is to disable it, obviously. Restart firefox, and see if the buttons work. This article describes the fixes that were in the bug reports: http://www.techstomp.com/articles/ubuntu-910-karmic-flash-buttons-dont-work

I was trying to find the actual bug report for you but was unable to. I know a google search using the right words will list it at the very top though.
