After installing the updates on July 6th, now I can't load Thunderbird. I receive the following message:

Couldn't execute command: /usr/lib/thunderbird-3.0.4/thunderbird " " Verify that this is a valid command.

What do I change or is this something that has to be updated again?

Looks to me like a version or a symbolic link issue. You can remove thunderbird and reinstall again. I switched to Evolution long time ago and works for me.

sudo apt-get remove thunderbird

sudo apt-get install thunderbird

your settings should be safe under user home directory. If you want you can back them up before removing.
