Yes, I've been trying to install different versions of Ubuntu on my PS3, F/W 3.15. I've tried YDL/Fedora which aren't my favs in the first place, plus they are VERY, no wait EXTREMELY slow. Was thinking maybe a lighterweight DE might help. I know ubuntu supports XFCE and LXDE and thought those may be better choices.
If you're not very familiar with the PS3, it has some shortcomings
Anyway, I installed the boot loader, petitboot, and it recognizes the cd I burned and begins installing. It actually finishes installing, with only one skipped/failed step...networking. I enter the BSSID, and the WEP key, and it fails to connect after maybe 45seconds.
So basically, the installation supposedly finishes w/o a hitch. But when it reboots, petitboot finds no disk to boot from. I am confident with partitioning and I know i set things up correctly there.
One other thing, it takes a lot longer to install Lucid vs Jaunty...guess a lot of people's contributions have shaped this current distro.
