How do i get my computer to start in the gui?

my computer starts in tty1 and won't let me access the gui, this is after upgrading to 10.10 any suggestions on how to fix this?

Answer

You can start GUI by running the following at a terminal

startx

To start as GUI permanently you have to reconfigure xserver

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
