Installation ubuntu 10.10 on second drive

Hi all I am new to this so be gentle please.

I wish to install 10.10 desktop on my second drive but get message to set boot partition, and the installation keeps my first drive highlighted.I already lost the system on my first drive once (now put back on) Can any one help please, Thanks

You want to install ubuntu all alone or are you trying to install multiple operating systems?

If you boot your machine using ubuntu cd and launch the installer, pick the hard disk you wish to install and it will automatically install boot, root and other partitions by itself.
