(running Ubuntu 10.10)
I have 4 hard disks and 1 dvd drive in my pc. I dual boot between Ubuntu and Windows 7.
Windows 7 detects and works fine with all four hdds and dvd drive.
Ubuntu only seems to detect 3 disks and the dvd drive.
I can't see the drive in the file browser or in the list from "sudo fdisk -l"or in the results of "sudo lshw".
I suspect the issue may be due to the IDE channel (AHCI/IDE/SATA ?) or BIOS settings or, as when the computer boots, it shows:
IDE Channel 0 Slave: SAMSUNG HD103SJ 1AJ10001
IDE Channel 1 Master: ATAPI iHAS324 Y BL1W
IDE Channel 1 Slave: SAMSUNG HD103SJ 1AJ10001
IDE Channel 2 Master: SAMSUNG HD103SJ 1AJ10001
IDE Channel 4 Master:
IDE Channel 4 Slave:
IDE Channel 5 Master:
IDE Channel 5 Slave:
IDE Channel 6 Master: WDC WD5000AACS-00ZUB0 01.01B01
IDE Channel 6 Slave:
IDE Channel 7 Master:
IDE Channel 9 Master:
IDE Channel 9 Slave:
"IDE Channel 6 Master: WDC WD5000AACS-00ZUB0 01.01B01" is the hdd that is not listed/available.
I'm out of my depth here - I have quite a bit of software knowledge, but my hardware knowledge is quite small.
Any help very much appreciated.
