just loaded 10.10 and the gui will not run. command line only

cannot get the grafic interface to load on start up. I do not understand the fault code and it will not stay long enogh

to read befor the command line pops up.

It happens to me then and there. Some time it doesn't bring the GUI instead it takes to command prompt (terminal)

I was wondering what is going on - once i thought of leaving it for a while and see if it comes back. Yep, after a while it came back. Looks like it was updating or running something in the background and it takes time. That was my experience.

If you feel after some still doesn't come up and have the feeling that updates would have caused this, then while booting, in the GRUB menu you can choose the option with RECOVERY MODE. This will revert changes to your last know good configuration. See if that helps
