After about 10 mins of opeation the screen goes dark.  Computer system is still operating.  Nothing I can do will re-illuminate the screen.  Have to shut off power and restart. 

I am not able to perform a voice call from pidgin, the option is greyed out ,not active.

Got a spare linux desktop box and thinking of using it as my own local dns server. how to install dns in ubuntu desktop 9.04? thanks in advance

Recently bought a HP Pavilion a6720f 64bit desktop machine and it came with windows vista pre-installed. I created another partition and installed ubuntu jaunty 9.04 desktop edition (should have waited for 9.10 :) ) Everything works great except there is no sound. I am able to see the Volume Control and tried to turn on off but no sound at all.
 

I would appreciate if someone helps me to install a 3D desktop cube on my ubuntu

My machine has windows vista with service pack 2 on it. I dont want to format or get rid of vista atleast for now. How to install ubuntu without disturbing my windows or in other words use both?
