Some times it restarts straight away , some times it won't for 10-15 mins.
Its not a HD problem.
The HD is recently new.

I am running Natty Alpha 3. I used Update Manager to install something (not sure what it was), then I restarted, but instead of listing all the kernels, it gave me a command line. I don't know what happened and how to use it. Help!
I had 2 HDDs on my desktop, one had the bootloader and windows 7 installed, and the other had ubuntu and other files. I removed and formated the disk with ubuntu on it, and kept the one with windows 7. now, when i turn on the computer i get stuck in the grub rescue>
Is there a way to be able to remove the grub and boot directly into windows? I tried windows startup repair but nothing happened.

I got ubuntu 9.10 and ubuntu 10.04 in different partitions and after installing windows 7 boot menu got corrupted. After fixing the boot menu and grub using grub boot fix now i only got back ubuntu 9.10 and windows 7. My ubuntu 10.04 went missing. I want my ubuntu 10.04 back. Please help.

Ok. Bare with me a second. Here's my partition scheme;
(200GB)/dev/sda1 /boot 500M/dev/sda2 LVM 100G
/dev/sda5 swap 4G
I want to uninstall Ubuntu and repair the MBR so it boots to Win XP normally. How do I do this?

I had windows vista and ubuntu 9.04 on my machine. Ubuntu has installed grub boot menu and it automatically detected windows vista installation and added it to the grub boot menu.
Now i installed windows seven and looks like it screwed up the grub boot loader. When i boot all i see in Windows Seven and Windows Vista from the boot menu (this is not grub boot menu). It is the windows boot menu. Now I can't even access or boot to my ubuntu.
How to fix this so that i can get my ubuntu back?
When i installed ubuntu on my windows vista machine, i had two menuitems for ubuntu and two menuitems for windows vista in the grub boot menu. I edited the boot menu list file and set vista as my default boot operating system. So, if i don't hit enter, it by defaults boots into windows.
