I could not access /var/apache2/log directory, so i tried to login as su but unfortunately it says authentication failure.

I was trying sudo user password set while installing ubuntu 11.10 machine.

how to login as su using sudo password?

I have installed Ubuntu 9.0 on my pc and when i try to install a new software by using the command:

sudo apt-get install bip

the following message appears:

sudo: apt-get: command not found

all the pakages are good installed.

My background most of the time with windows as the operating system. After seeing my friend switching to ubuntu, me too start liking it. However I'm coming across a lot of usage about the sudo command. please help what is sudo and when should i use it?
